2016 - 2017 Waiting List Application Process

The Pre-K lottery application acceptance period has closed and we are currently accepting waiting list applications for all Pre-K sites. The Pre-K lottery application acceptance period took place on April 1, 2016 through April 24, 2016.  If you did not participate in this process, but you have a rising Pre-K student, please complete a Pre-K waiting list application to express your interest and attempt to secure a seat.

Completing an application does not guarantee that your child will be accepted.  Seats will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis in the order that applications are received. Based on the number of vacancies available, we will contact applicants in the order that submissions are received to schedule them for enrollment.  At this time, there is no need to contact the Office of Early Learning.  Once your application is submitted, we will contact you only if a slot becomes available and you are next in line to receive that slot.

Program Requirements: Your child must turn four years old by September 1, 2016 and live within the Atlanta Public Schools’ attendance zone to participate in our program.

2016-2017 Prekindergarten Lottery and Enrollment

Thank you for your interest in the Atlanta Public Schools' Pre-K program.

Program Requirements: Your child must turn four years old by September 1, 2016 and live within the Atlanta Public Schools’ attendance zone to participate in our program.
Note: All information is pending official state approval.

Additional Information:
1. Pre-K seats are filled through a random lottery selection process
2. To participate in the Pre-K Lottery, your child MUST live within the Atlanta Public Schools attendance zone
3. All applicants are encouraged to have a valid email address to enter the lottery application system.
4. If you have twins, triplets, etc. you will be required to submit multiple applications; however before the lottery drawing takes place, your applications will be linked together to ensure that they are accepted or wait listed at the same site.
5. If you have a five year old child who is eligible for kindergarten (not Pre- K), has not attended a state funded Pre- K program, and you are interested in enrolling your child in Pre- K, contact the Office of Early Learning immediately.
6. Applicants should submit one application per child.

Process:
This year, applicants will have access to an online lottery and enrollment application that can be completed using various mobile and technology devices from the comfort of your home.  Applicants will be allowed to select a maximum of three (3) different Pre-K site locations and should list them in order of preference.  Although not mandatory, we highly recommend that applicants select their zoned school as their 1st choice as that is the only school that Atlanta Public Schools will provide bus transportation services to.  This also creates an easy transition to kindergarten.  If your child is accepted into a site that is not their zoned school for Pre-K and you are interested in them remaining there for grades k-5, please visit the link below for student transfer options:http://www.atlantapublicschools.us/transfers.

Note:  Selecting the maximum allowable sites (3) is optional.

The lottery drawing will be held on April 27, 2016.  After the drawing takes place, you will receive an email immediately notifying you of the results.  If you are not selected for your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice, you will be placed on the waiting list for your 1st choice ONLY.  If you are accepted into a site or placed on the waiting list for a site that you are not interested in, log into your parent account to decline your child's seat.  If a decline status is not received, it is assumed that you accept the seat.
